ABOUT

On the Kona Coast of the Big Island C. Hawk chartered its first "shared experience" in 2007. We inspire you – visitors and residents alike, to witness the backdrop of volcanoes, and breathe in the tranquil breezes of a rare paradise. Although there are many ways to explore the island's exquisite beauty and mystifying composure, we offer an ocean going vessel to bridge nature's brilliance and the awakening souls of men, women and children.

About the Captain

Captain Craig Hawkins has been fishing, surfing and diving in the Hawaiian Islands for over 30 years. Raised in Capistrano Beach, California, Craig dedicated his growing years to surfing and fishing the Southern California and Baja California coastlines, frequenting places like San Quintin, Todos Santos, Blacks, Trestles and Beach Road. In 1986 Craig set his sights on the Hawaiian Islands.

1986

In 1986 Craig set his sights on the Hawaiian Islands. First stop was Hanalei, on the island of Kauai. After four years of big wave surfing all over the Hawaiian Islands he began fishing the rough waters of Kauai. The big game fishing was all that he dreamt it would be. During this time, Craig was fortunate to learn from some veteran Hawaiian watermen; mainly Captain Rick Prowse from Princeville.

1990

As Craig remained focused on his love of the ocean, he made a career move in 1990 that took him to Kona, on the Big Island of Hawaii. It was an opportunity to advance within the hotel industry that initially inspired Craig’s move, but once he arrived, it was the tranquil waters, remote surfing areas and outstanding diving that sealed the deal.

2001

With an 18' aluminum boat, and lots of enthusiasm, Craig immediately explored, fished and surfed the entire western side of the Big Island. As his career with the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Co. began to flourish, his love and knowledge of his surrounding aquatic world began to expand as well.

2005

Five years prior to C. Hawk Hawaii’s beginning days, Craig captained adventure boats daily for SEA QUEST Adventures. He guided tourists on snorkel excursions, many having never been in the ocean waters before, and shared his in-depth knowledge of the island’s history and marine life.

2012

Exploring with and teaching the younger passengers has also become a highlight for Craig. His teenage son, Billy, is already an experienced angler with 2 Pacific Blue Marlin under his belt.

PRESENT

Craig currently operates out of world famous Honokohau Harbor in Kailua-Kona, and specializes in daily trips for tourists and locals alike. Living on the rugged and beautiful Kona Coast has become a way of life for Craig, and he considers the opportunity to share his knowledge and experiences a true gift.

**Keeping people informed and educated on conservation and environmental concerns is always a focal point of each trip.

Our Vision

As the sun and the moon work the changes of the tides, we have witnessed the Kona Coast play its music to the unpredictable rhythm of humanity. Serenity births, whales breach, dolphins spin, and we as humans are reminded momentarily, if not forever, of our home within the depths of mother earth.
